After you have your iOS 8 device jailbroken you are only halfway there. Now you must get Cydia installed in order to install tweaks, themes, and such from Cydia store. Follow each step carefully. Please share any problems or helpful tips in the comments below so others can enjoy iOS 8 jailbreak too.
At this time the Pangu Jailbreak is for Windows users only. I will update this here when the Mac version is added.
How to Install Cydia on iOS 8 Jailbroken Device
- Download the .deb file here which is Cydia and cydia-lproj file from this link
- Now you need to SSH into your device so you can transfer these files. Most Windows users prefer WinSCP but if you use a different one thats fine. As long as you understand how to use it.
You must be on he same WiFi before this software can function properly and transfer the files. - Open WinSCP and SSH into your device with your ip address. You will use username “root” and password “alpine” for your credentials on WinSCP. This is the standard login credentials.
- Some users prefer changing this but unless you are on a public WiFi or have others around who may attempt hacking into your device while you are connected don’t worry. But it will tell you how to change the credentials should you want too.
- You will now be able to drag and drop the two files for transfer using the browser.
- Now press Ctrl + T to start the SSH command line session. Navigate to the same folder using the cd command where you copied the deb file.
- Now run these commends in order: dpkg -i cydia-lproj_1.1.12_iphoneos-arm.deb’ ‘dpkg -i cydia_1.1.13_iphoneos-arm.deb
- Reboot your device and if everything has gone accordingly, you will now have Cydia on the Springboard.
Be sure to share below if you try this technique and how it went. Any problems we will try to help in the comments.
